Guide 10

Check a system integration

Agree on data and permissions, then test reading, writing, and error handling.

Before you begin

A confirmed integration scope, the source system's administrator, and a safe test dataset.

What to do

Complete 5 steps

  1. Define the operations

Write down exactly what needs to be read and changed: the catalogue, stock, schedule, request, or status. A system's logo does not mean all these operations are available.

  2. Map the data

Agree on field mappings and rules: organisation, branch, currency, time zone, and required values. Decide which system remains the source of truth for each type of data.

  3. Grant permissions

Grant only the necessary permissions through the established secure process. Assign an access owner and a revocation procedure; do not use an employee's personal password as a permanent shared credential.

  4. Test data exchange

Test reading and permitted writing with test data. Compare the result in both systems and confirm that another organisation's data cannot be accessed.

  5. Test failures

Test system unavailability, repeated requests, and revoked permissions. Agree on where unfinished tasks are saved, who fixes errors, and how retries avoid duplicates.

Check the result

Run the scenario with test data. Verify the result in your business system and make sure the responsible employee knows the next step.

This guide explains how to prepare and test a process. Available actions depend on your setup.
